Why Gym Note Plus exists
For years my training log lived in the notes app on my phone. Quick lines typed between sets: exercise, weight, reps, the odd comment about how a set felt. It was fast, it never got in the way, and it worked.
The problem was what happened after. Hundreds of workouts, scattered across notes, and no way to answer simple questions. Was my bench actually going up? When did I last add weight to squats? Am I progressing, or just turning up?
I tried the popular tracking apps, but they all wanted me to train their way: dropdowns, exercise pickers, tapping through screens mid-set. Logging a workout felt like filling in a form. I always ended up back in my notes.
So I built the app I wanted. Gym Note Plus lets you log workouts exactly like you would in a notes app, in your own shorthand, then turns those notes into structured, trackable data. Charts, personal records, progressive overload over time. The notes stay simple. The insights come free.
I use it every session

Gym Note Plus isn't built from market research. It's built from my own training, several sessions a week, every week. Every feature exists because I, or someone in the community, needed it in the gym. If something is clunky mid-set, I feel it first.
I write the blog myself too, covering the training questions I've had to answer for my own progress: rep ranges, deloads, progressive overload, and how to keep a workout log you'll actually stick with.
What Gym Note Plus is
A workout log first. The translation layer is what makes it powerful, but the foundation is simple: write your workout the way you already do, and let the app do the structuring.
- A notes app that understands training. Log in plain text, in your own shorthand. No dropdowns, no menus, no tapping through screens.
- A translator from text to data. Your notes become structured workouts: exercises, sets, reps and weight, ready to chart.
- Progress you can actually see. Personal records, estimated 1RMs, and trends over time, so you know when to push and when to hold.
What Gym Note Plus is not
This part matters as much as anything above. I'd rather you trust the app for what it actually is than oversell it.
- Not a coaching service. The app shows you your data. It doesn't write you a periodized program. For that, hire a coach.
- Not a nutrition tracker. No macros, no calories. There are great apps for that. Gym Note Plus does one thing: workout logging without friction.
- Not a social network. Your training log is yours. No feeds, no followers, no sharing pressure.
- Not an app that dictates how you train. Whatever split, shorthand, or style you use, the app adapts to you, not the other way around.
